Project Citizen

Project Citizen is an incubation lab focused on technology and politics grounded in investigative journalism and narrative-driven storytelling to explore and confront the unchecked power of Silicon Valley.

We develop films, premium series and audio that go beyond the headlines to make systems of influence, information control, and democratic vulnerability visible. These are stories about power.

Founded by UK investigative journalist Carole Cadwalladr, Project Citizen is an offshoot of, and works with, the Citizens, a tech justice non-profit. Shepherded by veteran US producer Mikaela Beardsley with business affairs led by Neil Dobson, we’re advised by Geralyn Dreyfous of Impact Partners and Felipe Estafan of Curiosity Capital and work with both established and new talent.

Like the best campaigning journalism, our work doesn’t stop at exposure: it’s designed to travel—through community engagement, convenings, and collaborations that help audiences process what they’re living through and connect insight to agency.

Our work is supported by Luminate and the Anat Foundation, and we maintain a development fund for early-stage reporting, research, and creative exploration. If you’re a writer, filmmaker, journalist, or audio creator with a project that the world needs to see or hear, we’d love to hear from you.
